We Built Our Own Factory

Modest wear has long been a pick-two: quality, price, or ethical production. The only way we could deliver all three was to own the making of it.

Made in Dhaka

Dhaka is home to some of the world's most skilled garment makers, and some of the finest natural fibres, including cotton, linen and muslin.
We are based in London, but our roots are Bangladeshi. Our parents were born in Bangladesh and we still have family there, with some now part of the factory. Building in Dhaka made sense practically, but it was also personal. It felt like returning to our roots.

Our Team, Our Responsibility.

Our Dhaka team is now 27 people, led by our Country Manager, Forhad Hossainn, who looks after the full operation. We know the people making your pieces by name. They are not suppliers hidden behind an outsourced supply chain. They are Jawda
"We do not subcontract. Every person here is part of Jawda."
That was one of the biggest reasons we built our own factory. We wanted to make sure our team was looked after properly, through fair pay, dignified working conditions, daily lunch stipends and personal relationships. Everyone is treated with respect, regardless of role or seniority. We know the fashion industry has not always treated garment workers with the care they deserve. With our own factory, we are accountable for our own people. Together, we have built something truly special.

What Does This Mean For You?

It means you do not have to choose between how something looks or feels, how much it costs, and how it was made. Jawda was built to bring all three together.
